About the Teachers

 Sra. Claudia Holzbauer

Hola, hola!

My name is Claudia C. Holzbauer and I have the privilege of being your child’s kindergarten teacher for the next school year. I obtained my teaching degree in Peru, from Instituto Pedagogico Nacional Monterrico with emphasis in Early Childhood Education in 2004 and my bachelor in the Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazon with emphasis in Education in 2005 and now I am currently enroll in the University of North Dakota to follow a Master in Early Childhood Education.

I have more than 12 years of education experience in English and Spanish in levels from Pre K to elementary. My first exposure to the immersion system was 2008-2009, when I was an intern teacher for the Amity program in an immersion school in Saint Paul.  I can absolutely relate to the challenges and rewards that your child will face, but we (because it is teamwork, you and me) will be there for help. This will be my fourth year at ISLA.  I am very excited working with my wonderful kinder teaching team.

I recognize the concern that you place in the development of your individual child and I will take my responsibility seriously. I ask for your trust and offer the same. Throughout the year, we will work together on establishing and maintaining our classroom rules but these are the basics premises:

  • We are here to learn.
  • We learn best when we feel safe and happy.
  • We will help each other learn a little everyday

We try to handle behavior situations within the classroom, but you will hear from me if there is a serious situation that requires reinforcement at home.

I have become a teacher because I truly love children and the exciting process of learning. You can certainly count on me to nurture and encourage your child. I know that you are entrusting us with your most valuable possession and I strive to have each and every one of my students treated with love and respect.

Our success is contingent upon mutual cooperation and communication.  Feel free to contact me anytime regarding your childs progress, for any concerns that you might have, or simply to share a humorous anecdote or some positive information, which you think I might enjoy. Together we can make this a very, very special year for your little one!

 Sincerely,

 Sra. Claudia Holzbauer

Sra. Patiño

Hello,

My name is Paola Patino-Johnson. I am from Colombia. I obtained a BA in Foreign Language Instruction at the University of La Salle in Bogota- Colombia. I continued my studies as an Elementary Teacher through an additional licensure program at Hamline University in St. Paul and obtained an Elementary Education Master’s Degree online through Grand Canyon University of Arizona in 2013.

My teaching experience correspond to English as a Second Language teacher with K-12 students for two years in Colombia and, 5 years as a Kindergarten Classroom teacher at ISLA.

My husband and I are blessed with two wonderful boys: Owen (1) and Evan (3).  Right now what I enjoy the most is spending time with my boys and when I can squeeze in some free time, I enjoy going to the movies, catching up with dear friends and getting to know new places in and around Minnesota.

I am very excited of coming back to ISLA this year. I could not ask for a better place to teach. ISLA is truly a school filled with a caring staff, kindhearted colleagues, as well as wonderful families and children.

As a teacher, and a parent myself, I believe communication is very important in the achievement of our common goal of giving the best preparation possible to our children. Please don’t hesitate in contacting me at anytime.

Su profesora,

Sra. Patiño
